Browse Forums Finishing Touch 1 Feb 15, 2009 6:17 pm We are only *allowed* to choose ONE colour for the interior walls and ONE colour for the woodwork, being the architraves, skirtings and stair bannister. We have chosen Taubmans Bamboo Cream, which is a warm neutral colour.
The vertical metal railings (?) on the stairs are black. The floor tiles will be a smooth light creamy colour (I think). (Kitchen, hallways) The kitchen is white. The carpet will be chocolate/mushroomy colour in the Living rooms.(Theatre, dining, lounge and upstairs) At present we have decide to do the woodwork also in Bamboo Cream, the same as the walls, but in Gloss to change the look but keep the flow. WIll it be too much all in one colour? This would also include the stair bannister. I did this because I didn't want the stair bannister in white, which I would prefer for the woodwork. (can't have 2 colours, not allowed by bulk builder) Should I change the woodwork to a light cream and suffer with it for the stairs? or should I keep it Bamboo Cream gloss and risk it being too much? I think it looks really sleek and lets other parts of the home take centre stage.
Michelle's home is a good example of this. She has used Winnow everywhere and it means her art, feature walls and other pieces really pop. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: All one colour for walls and woodwork? 3Feb 15, 2009 6:39 pm themax, we have two colours - chalk beige on walls and chalk dust on trims and doors. It suits our house and our furniture and personally I love this look. BUT, this is your house and you have to live in it. Maybe you can use a colour that is lighter than your walls but not really white? Are you able to see any displays where your builder has used to same colour throughout to help you? Also is the wood painted gloss or satin? The Max Does your builder class half or double strengh of a colour as two different colours?
