Well we have been in our new home for 6months now, we have unpainted whiteset plaster walls, looks liveable of course because it's all white. We were planning on painting sometime in the next 6 months but if I look around at the damage my kids (2 and 6) have done to the walls in their unpainted state...I'm talking, pen, chalk, food, poo, grass..you name it they've done it, not to mention the chips and knocks from the charging about that they do..I can't help thinking, hey why not delay painting altogether for another 2 or 3 years? I know the paint would protect the plaster a bit more and it wouldn't dent or chip so easily but I know I would have to repair so many marks and scratches from the kids while one of them at least is so little. Of course a lot of the marks would be wipeable with paint on the walls, most of it I can't get out at all with plaster.
Am I crazy? I think the next year is going to be largely taken up with settling in the back yard and other furnishings and general busy living.
We could possibly get the bathrooms done, some of the bedrooms but leave the toilet (the most graphitied room at present- my 2yr old is a horror) and the living area, hallways and games rooms.
I wonder is there any technical reason for having to do it.
And yes I would love it to be done, I have all my colours pretty much planned but it's a big job because I'm going to do it myself with a bit of help from my Dad, so the desire to see the house "finished" is overridden by all the other things to be done and the practical damage reasons..
And the other reason is it would be soooo much easier to actually do the job without a two year old. I could pack them both off to Grandmas for a week and do it without interruption. I can't do that now.
Any thoughts?
