I have done a search but can't seem to see anything that is actually what I am needing. I really, really love the colours that most people are choosing being the Dune's and the nice taupes, sandy type colours. They are gorgeous. Unfortunately I am a bit of a colour freak and I really do adore colours that are rich and bold (not brash). I love dark chocolate and aubergine etc. I would really love to do our facade in a dark chocolate somehow but I know this is just too much. (Think tropical type colours) Has anyone stepped outside the circle and chosen a rich colour for their facade? If so, what were the results? I have seen a rendered house in the deepest purple (dark) that it's almost brown and they had all lime green topiary hedges etc in the front yard, oh it was delightful! (not at all yukky although it may sound that way) I think we will be having a darkish roof so I will need to consider this also. Can anyone share any advice or experience about this please. I need something to convince the husband. Re: Bold and Beautiful...Facade colours 2Dec 14, 2008 11:45 am We did feature columns in our house now ...well it's sold but we are still here .... it's similar to what you described a brownish purple, it's a really nice colour, if I could remember it I would tell you lol...I will search for it. Re: guess not 4Dec 16, 2008 6:56 pm themax Thanks SuH. I think I am the only one that likes bold...guess I will be going with the 'safe' colours.... NO NO NO NO NO ..... do what you love!!! Do what will make you happy!!! EVERYONE on here loves beige and safe colours for internals. I personally cannot think of anything worse..... but that hasn't stopped me. I'll have charcoals and greys and blacks. Mek is the same as me with her love of charcoals. Kek and Back Pocket throw colour around like there's no tomorrow! But we are in the minority. Maybe my taste will put off some buyers if I ever sell...... but think of the enjoyment I'll have in the meantime. Don't be safe just cos everyone else is..... do what you want! Jo Here's the link to Anne's place up in Bribie.... she used Pot Luck (I think it was called) for part of her facade. Have a look.... half way down, second last page. https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.p ... ight=canal I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick shucks 5Dec 16, 2008 8:04 pm aww gee wiz thanks Jo for your kind encouragement.
I did check out that link to Anne's place. Wow what a spot that is! Love that colour you referred to. I think we are getting Photoshop next weeks so I might be able to fiddle some facades with nice colours and give myself some dutch courage and then convince the husband. Will let you know what choose. Thanks again. Just what I needed. so nice... themax tender this week for Cl@rendon B@lmain Re: Bold and Beautiful...Facade colours 6Dec 18, 2008 6:37 pm The Max, you have to do what you love. Step outside the square. I have seen beautiful colours lately. Dark Maroon and grey, or Deep Purple/brown and beige. Don't be afraid to use a beautiful feature colour and subdue it with a softer colour. I bet you it will be your house that everyone will be looking at when they drive in the street thanks 7Dec 18, 2008 6:56 pm Thanks jess1. I am actually feeling a bit better about hat now and have some brochures with some stylish rich colours so I think I may be on track!
What nice encouragement you all gave, thanks! themax -------------------------------------------------- Cl@rendon B@lmain Been to tender, now need a strong cup of tea...the $$numbers are blurring... We needs some more exciting variety in colours here. Please! colour! 10Dec 19, 2008 6:17 am kexkez, we are getting that adobe photoshop today, although I have no idea how to use it. (much unlike the homeone forum extraordinaire d@n, a true wizard). I will have a go at it and se what I can dream up. There is a colour 'merlot', which is self explanatory but so rich and yummy you could almost wrap yourself up in it...maybe that's the one, not sure. Thank you for yor response!
themax ------------------------------------- hoping for Cl@rondon B@lmain Been toTender Re: Bold and Beautiful...Facade colours 11Dec 19, 2008 6:54 am yum sounds like my kind of colour. we had rich colours in the bedrooms in our last house and fairly neutral in the main living areas. I would love some rich colours again in our new house but DH isn't too fussed this time.
We had "red cross" by dulux in our bedroom. but with deep blue velvet type curtains and a smallish border at the top of the walls with golds and oranges.. The room was very opulent. Re: Bold and Beautiful...Facade colours 12Dec 29, 2008 7:30 pm I love bold colours. We painted our porch a dark red and now several on the development are doing something similar.
Just pick what you like and don't worry what others think. They'll come around eventually and if not ... well whats the harm ... you'll have a unique colour scheme . Only word of warning ... dark colours can fade. Our red has already lost some of its vibrancy. dark colours 13Dec 30, 2008 8:02 am Thanks for that! What a warm and fuzzy feeling there is at this Forum!
Our facade had changed since then and I think we will be going with perhaps dark dark chocolate topish half of the house and maybe off white for the bottom halfish of the house. But that's today, perhaps tomorrow it will change? Will keep in mind the issue of fading as we face West!!! uuuggghhh... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- themax Re: dark colours 14Dec 30, 2008 6:27 pm themax Thanks for that! I am in love with dark chocolate and off white ... stunning contrast. we've got a dark choc lounge next to a bone leather chair and it looks fantastic. Wish I'd used these colours elsewhere. Classic . wow 15Dec 30, 2008 7:41 pm Thanks DeeElle, I just had a peek at your gorgeous house! It's fantastic. I bet you are really happy with it. Yes, I think I will do dark chocolate up the top and use off white or a similar colour on the bottom. I tried to attach a photoshop photo but it has dissapeared somewhere! I will try again later.
What other colour could I use instead of off white? themax Re: Bold and Beautiful...Facade colours 17Dec 30, 2008 11:55 pm I need the photoshop pic .. can't visualise it.
I've attached a dark choc house with a paperbark ?? garage and stainless steel capping. Might help with ideas. I'm not fond of the stone work but the rest looks good IMO . http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/jj229/DeeElle66/house2copy.jpg http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/jj229/DeeElle66/house1copy.jpg edit: although some might say it looks like an office block - its the colour I was thinking of. Re: Bold and Beautiful...Facade colours 18Dec 31, 2008 7:16 am DeeElle, I think that's Surfmist they've used with white windows. On my screen it's not chocolate, it's purple!
My monitor must be waaaayyyy off! I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Bold and Beautiful...Facade colours 19Dec 31, 2008 7:52 am I have searched for the colour I was referring to and I can't find it, but I have to because it goes great with our new alfresco tiles and we have decided to do a feature wall behind the BBQ in it Well I just found the huge paint container and there isn't a name on it or it has worn off .... DAMN! It is very much like the one in the photo. Maybe I should take a photo of my place duh! of course there are legal avenues. You've already mentioned it. Sue them. I find it odd that lawyers wouldnt be willing to take on the case, given CCT evidence and… 1 23764 I'd get the gutters to match your roof and pipes to match the paint - otherwise they become a feature. Nice pick with the paint colours! 1 34269 Looking to tile the facade pillars rather than rendering. Builder is quoting 2500$ laying cost for upto 10msq. The 2 pillars come to be 16msq. So laying costs are 5000$… 0 7546 |
