We are looking at the Ikea Pax system for fitting out tthe WIR. Would you just have cupboards on either sides like this:- http://i493.photobucket.com/albums/rr295/harrietandquinn/finalfloorplan-1-1.jpg Or going around the perimeter:- http://i493.photobucket.com/albums/rr295/harrietandquinn/finalfloorplan-1-2.jpg See told you I am obsessed ............. Re: Okay I am seriously obsessed with my walk-in / dressing room 3Nov 07, 2008 12:23 pm Dimensions are 3220mm x 3000mm with a opening for the doorway of 900mm.
Depending on whether I count maternity clothing we don't have massive amounts of clothing, shoe collection was severely reduced when we moved previously into our tiny 2 bedder as was the handbag collection. DH has a huge number of t-shirts and he prefers them to be hung rather then folded. I suppose I am starting to sound like Joles with her storage obsession!! We also have another built-in cupboard in our bedroom as well as our dressing table. That will be all shelving - which I thought I could store all our sheets / blankets in to free up the linen cupboard for the kid's sheets / blankets plus towels. Is too much storage ever too much? Or do we just go with either side and put an ottoman / seat or even a dressing table with a bench seat for makeup / perfume? Re: Okay I am seriously obsessed with my walk-in / dressing room 4Nov 07, 2008 12:28 pm I'd do it all around on the three sides..... but then I'm not into ottomans, stools etc, in WIR.... I like it just to be storage. I guess it depends what look you're after.
You are starting to sound like me but I know what to do with the cupboards when I get them... it's just getting them! Bloody houses... why do we do this? I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Okay I am seriously obsessed with my walk-in / dressing room 5Nov 07, 2008 1:37 pm i'd go all around...much more storage and looks much more impressive (just in case u want to show it off to ur friends!)
i'm so jealous that u literally have a walk in ROOM hehehehe i like ottomans, so i vote getting one of those too Re: Okay I am seriously obsessed with my walk-in / dressing room 6Nov 07, 2008 1:45 pm The only issue I see with all around is where to put a mirror? If you just had the sides you could do a chest or something in the middle, with a mirrow on the end.
Personally I htink I'd just do around. Re: Okay I am seriously obsessed with my walk-in / dressing room 7Nov 07, 2008 2:02 pm In your other robe thread, I_BUILD (or spellcheck ), actually said something that resembles making sense.
Spellcheck mentioned that you could get in some natural light.... what about doing the fit out on the two sides.... then on the blank wall two slim windows next to where the side fitout ends.... then that would leave a gap in the middle for a dressing table or ottoman or whatever. Natural light might be nice in there... But why I_BUILD is thinking about needing natural light when getting ready is a whole other thread in itself I think. Jo I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Or if you are still having doors on the robes, you could put a mirror on the inside (or outside) of one, or on the back of the door into the WIR. Re: Okay I am seriously obsessed with my walk-in / dressing room 9Nov 08, 2008 2:00 pm donuts I'd go all around the 3 sides, leaving a gap in the middle for the mirror. Or if you are still having doors on the robes, you could put a mirror on the inside (or outside) of one, or on the back of the door into the WIR. Exactly that (otherwise you are wasting valuable storage space.) You dont need doors on them!! You could fit a nice small ottoman in the middle which will allow you to sit and put socks on etc. Quote: Is too much storage ever too much? NEVER Paula Do you really want to accommodate the window?
