Me again with another dilemma.. roof tiles! I've requested a price for colorbond but I doubt we will be able to include as we're already stretched for other things in the house. We love the profile but not particularly liking any colour in the range we've been given so I asked if we could possibly use a Bristile tiles as they have one that matches Dune and he's surprisingly said that although they don't use Bristile that they could open an account with them for us! I don't know what sort of costs would be involved but he didn't mention any when he said it. So.. we are trying to decide between three options: 1) Nice profile greenish roof tile. We like this one in most lights but it does have a slight olive tinge to it. Not as much as in this picture, and I actually find it hard to see the green but my husband and mum can see it. It doesn't go with Dune which I wanted for gutters and downpipes, so we'd have to use Evening Haze which does go quite well. This is the wrong profile but is the closest to the right colour but much less green: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This is the best I could find to show evening haze: Bricks (are much more silver in real life): Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Surfmist for fascia, garage door, windows 2) Nice profile brownish roof tile. This one is a lovely colour, suits the bricks and works well with Dune, but it's brown and I really didn't have brown in mind for the facade. I wanted more light grey and white. This is also the wrong profile and actually not even near the right colour, it's more like a light jasper: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Dune Bricks: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Surfmist for fascia, garage door, windows This is the profile but the colour is totally wrong (even though it's also the walnut) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ 3) Good colour, bad profile.. This is the Bristile Parchment tile, it matches Dune. It's exactly the colour scheme we want but we don't love the profile. With Dune gutters and downpipes.. Dune Bricks: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Surfmist for fascia, garage door, windows This is the profile on a house, it's ok, but I still prefer the otehr. You still with me? If so thanks! So which would you choose? Oh my god, after spending an hour putting that together I'm pretty certain about what we have to do! After spending the time I'll post anyway Re: Rachelle's latest dilemma - roof tiles! 2Oct 13, 2008 9:37 pm Oh Rachelle, what a dilemma!!
I think I have to go with Number 2 - hoping it's the one you've picked! The first one you don't sound convinced about the colour, and the 3rd one I really don't like the profile either, even though the colour is perfect. I think the light jasper would look lovely, and not too brown for the other colours in your facade. And the profile is really nice in that one. Have you photoshopped any of them yet? Re: Rachelle's latest dilemma - roof tiles! 4Oct 14, 2008 9:59 am All I can say is, if after an hour of typing out the question and now you know the answer……well done!

Well.. my decision was for 3! But I'm still not 100%. I really don't want to bring another colour in for the roof as I'd end up with too many colours: Bricks - Nougat Roof - Brown Gutter & Downpipe - Dune Garage door, windows and fascia - Surfmist Render - to be decided Stackstone Timber front door I really love the Dune for the gutter and downpipes as it's actually quite close to the bricks in real life and looks great against them so I don't want to change that even though jasper would probably help. I could change the surfmist but I love it for garage doors and windows against the brick. But if I do the Dune roof then I end up with one less colour and less clutter. Here are some of my mock ups. Bricks are not good colour, and the next shade is too dark. The really are a silver beige. Dune roof.. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Jasper roof.. Re: Rachelle's latest dilemma - roof tiles! 6Oct 14, 2008 1:39 pm The number 3 IS a great colour. And with the roof tiles waaay up there on the 2nd storey you might not notice the profile as much?
So are you still considering a Colorbond roof then? That first pic in your last post you've labelled as Dune roof, but the gutters look like a different colour to me I do think the lighter colours on the roof look better than the charcoal ones. And I prefer Surfmist garage. Hope have not confused you more ! Re: Rachelle's latest dilemma - roof tiles! 7Oct 14, 2008 1:42 pm I like the last one....will look later, a bit busy now. Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Rachelle's latest dilemma - roof tiles! 8Oct 14, 2008 1:52 pm Thanks and not at all donuts, that's the conclusion that I came to. That the colour would be more noticable than the profile way up there, we have no roof at lower levels, the one behind the garage parapet will be colorbond anyway.
We are still hoping that there's a chance that we can afford colorbond since they build a lot of homes with colorbond so maybe they get good rates and since they are already doing our garage roof with colorbond maybe they'll decide it's not much more to do the whole roof in lieu of tiles. Fingers crossed anyway, waiting to hear back from him. With this extra $14k we might be able to stretch a bit more anyway. Michelle thanks, I think why the last one works is that I've used jasper on both the roof and on the garage so it ties it together. Just up on the roof isn't working alone, it stands out too much. Thanks! Re: Rachelle's latest dilemma - roof tiles! 9Oct 14, 2008 2:00 pm The best way to get colour combinations to work, is to make sure there is always a balance of the colours, if you have one colour on the roof…..its nice to bring that colour in somewhere at eye level…..very important. Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Rachelle's latest dilemma - roof tiles! 11Oct 14, 2008 4:49 pm We are having a very similar colour combo and we are having a dune roof I think it works well with the white and the bricks
I also like the last one which I think is jasper. I agree with others though, since your house is a double story you will barely be able to see the roof My karma ran over your dogma Re: Rachelle's latest dilemma - roof tiles! 12Oct 14, 2008 5:04 pm I really like the charcoal roof but thats because I think I will be going that way myself. You have seen the colours I like based on the facade I sent through the other day. By the way the roof in that pic I posted was Shale Grey with a Shale Grey garage door(we went to the display again on the weekend). Re: Rachelle's latest dilemma - roof tiles! 13Oct 14, 2008 5:35 pm PK I missed it, I must have been having a life for a change!
I'll go look... Thanks Bel, yeah I think I'm sold on the dune no matter what, I actually don't love the Contour profile either so I'll live with the Bristile one if we can't get the Colorbond. We actually really should be able to afford it after today's news. Thanks Paula, I think that if I had to go with the brown roof then I would defintely need the Jasper garage too, and that one looks nice and balanced. Re: Rachelle's latest dilemma - roof tiles! 14Oct 14, 2008 5:51 pm Ok…..had a better look, these are the two that stand out the best to me.

I agree with gweluphome, and I like the charcoal...but again, thats cos i have charcoal roof tiles...hehe...i think the jasper is nice too...i dont think i'm helping much hehe Do you have solar on the roof, because if its not a laying defect it looks almost like someone has been walking all over the roof in the mid section of the tile (weakest… 2 1931 2 9448 This certainly doesn't look good.
