Re: Spammers 2Nov 22, 2007 7:06 pm HomeReview….there are 4 or 5 moderators, we try and stay on top of it, but its like they wait till we’re not here and post the nasty spam. ![]() Have you seen much? We do our best to make sure that spam does not stay up for long, but feel free to contact Jason at Homeone to discuss your concerns. This is a thread that was posted recently - but it seems that on-one but the moderators provided feedback. http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=3888 I made sure that the last spam post was deleted a.s.a.p. But that does not stop people from clicking on it. Re: Spammers 4Nov 22, 2007 7:11 pm i reckon you guys get rid of the spam real quickly
Well done to all DQQ Re: Spammers 5Nov 22, 2007 7:54 pm Thanks DQQ, the post in question would have been up for maybe less than 5 minutes, it was the last post at the top of the last 5 posts section.
I deleted it and PM'd Homeone to immediately delete the spamming member. We do our very best to keep this place clean, and apologise if there are some that we do not get to immediately. Thanks for the support. The decision is Homeone's as to whether we keep the signon process as is or revert back to the original manually approved sign in option. Re: Spammers 7Nov 22, 2007 9:26 pm DQQ - Hmm - is that smoking avatar good image to be promoting in society?
Re the spammers - perhaps if the moderators were not known to all - the spammers would not know when to scan who is logged in and who is not ? Just a thought Steve Re: Spammers 8Nov 22, 2007 9:30 pm Maybe we should remain hidden on the forum, stalking in silence!!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() Re: Spammers 10Nov 22, 2007 9:32 pm ![]() Re the spammers - perhaps if the moderators were not known to all - the spammers would not know when to scan who is logged in and who is not ? If the spammer are actually posting more when you folks are not here, then perhaps a well scripted spammer is skimming those details, working out via scripted routines who and when the moderators where logged in, and then time their spams to occur outside that window. Or perhaps it's just an illusion as to how many actual spam posts occur when our protectors of all things "not desired or required" are not logged in. So perhaps, if the mod info was not published the would have one less bit of details to use. As I say just a thought. P sitting in silence - I suppose it could be called that - but isn't that what a moderator does in a debate or TV forum - they sit, observe and interact when required. Either or - It still amazes me that the spammers and other system posters continue with their junk mail and forum spams in the volumes and effort they goto get their advertising) into places, but I suppose if they get a .005% hit rate, that's still pretty good for them. As I say - just a thought and I think the amount of spam that I ever see here is so low it's not a problem. But the mods would know that better than I how much they delete each day.
