we're in highlands - moved in just over a year ago. I was abit iffy about the suburb not knowing much about it but so far all is okay. Land price and (size) was within our budget when we compared to other estates. Our neighbours are great and so are most of the people in the street. There's a new primary school opening next year - at the moment it's a high school for year 7's only but they'll be off to a new campus in Greenvale. I think there are plans for another high school in the area - i think it could be a Prep - Year 12?? Rose. Re: Highlands (Craigieburn, VIC) Opinion Please? 5Sep 02, 2008 7:49 pm Hi Rose,
Would you recommend your closest friends to move up there then? How's traffic in the morning? Sorry for the 1001 questions, this is going to be our first home, so we're VERY VERY nervous !! Re: Highlands (Craigieburn, VIC) Opinion Please? 6Sep 03, 2008 9:00 am Hi Sireza - yeah i probably would if it were within their budget - i think it's an okay area. I wanted an area where we would be close to freeway entrance due to how far i need to travel for work. Land in the area is reasonably priced - we've got a decent sized block for a fair price. There are a few covenants (sp??) in highlands which will add onto the cost of building your home - unless they've changed over the last few years. We also have a corner block which added more cost to building price. But you'll get that in most estates anyway.
Traffic is okayish - but will depend what time you leave home/start work. I generally leave home around 7ish and find i get to work (in Camberwell) anywhere between 7.45am - 8am. I travel via the craigieburn bypass, ring road and tulla. Have on occasion gone onto the ring road via sydney road but i get frustrated with all the traffic lights on sydney road. Re: Highlands (Craigieburn, VIC) Opinion Please? 7Jan 26, 2009 9:24 pm I just bought a land in highland via Delfin and I'm happy with it as I will be using Craigieburn train station everyday. It's the only 'new' place in Melbourne that has access to trains.
I can't wait to sign up the land contract Re: Highlands (Craigieburn, VIC) Opinion Please? 8Jan 26, 2009 9:37 pm There is also lots of estates in Mernda/Doreen. There is a new train station in south morang being built which will make it about a 8-10min drive to the station. But that will be about 3 years away I think.
Laurimar estate in doreen has a brand new primary school opeing next week and a woolworths currently in contruction that should open within the next few months. However 400m2 is probably going to set you back about 150k. Re: Highlands (Craigieburn, VIC) Opinion Please? 10Jan 27, 2009 8:46 pm iTalk I'm not doubting you or anything, but I heard that South Moran station will be ready by 2018. Yeah well with a labor government you are probably right!! In Qld it is a requirement that a builder must have a cost breakdown, for building a home to the same specification, with the same inclusions and the same finish. So ask… 1 1766 Thanks for the suggestion. The space between shower and sinks was too tight. I agree about the toilet location. So I have tried two other options: The lower one is… 3 6128 these look like missing batts. Go up and take a look. But yeah moisure meter is a completely different tool 4 9447 |
