a few years back, land in keysborough, in an estate, was originally $200,000 to 250,000... nowadays, theyve almost sold out and the remaining lots are about $350,000!!! whats going on here??? houses are also going up! a typical 3 bedroom 15 year old house in 'old keysborugh is 410,000!!! what the hell...? and a modern masterpeice is at the least, half a mill!! what is going on here? why has it rised so much? Re: why is keysborough getting so expensive? 3Mar 21, 2008 7:45 pm It's called over population. Demand for housing is at crisis levels (especially renting) and the gov't is asleep at the wheel. The whole situation is really bad and getting worse. Half mill doesn't buy you much these days.
God help us if we fall into recession along with the US. 2008 is looking to be a bad year. Re: why is keysborough getting so expensive? 4Mar 21, 2008 10:48 pm Andrew, we are currently living in the Keysborough "area" and we too were shocked with the prices of land, especially in Hidden Grove estate...which to us is nothing special and overpriced....
BUT....the eastlink is now there, the suburb has good proximity to the beach and obviously there are people willing to pay those prices as Hidden Grove amongst other estates are sold out!!! More land will eventually become available when the surrounding farms (down Perry Rd etc) are finally sold to developers...... If that where you really want to build, unfortunately the price needs to be paid....or if not in an estate, you can always buy and demolish an older place and re-build? Re: why is keysborough getting so expensive? 5Mar 31, 2008 1:02 pm the display home of the one we are building got sold late 2006 for 580K .. In today's market it would have gone easily for 700 K. Apparently there are lot of overseas business folks all cashed up moving to Australia for whom interest rates dont matter much...(sayeth the agent who could be selling our place when we r ready to move) Re: why is keysborough getting so expensive? 6Mar 31, 2008 7:26 pm Quote: the display home of the one we are building got sold late 2006 for 580K .. (hmmmm still happeneing) They sold up and could by up there with money to spare. Your turn to know what it feels like Steve Re: why is keysborough getting so expensive? 7Mar 31, 2008 7:54 pm As the others have said, everywhere's getting costly nowadays. In Mont Albert North (which is on the "poor" side of the tracks, relatively speaking) a house down the road from ds' friend was recently sold for over $900,000. It's three-bedroomed, one and a half bathroom 1970-ish.
Flippin heck. E.g. in our last place, many neighbours were business people from China, HK & Malaysia who wanted to get permanent residency in Australia and an Aussie passport - which gives them more security in case anything happens in their home country. One of the quickest ways to get residency is to own property in Oz (I think you only need to actually live here about 12 wks of the year) After 4 years - we're in! These shacks will no doubt get demolished and the land sub divided, built and sold for a tidy profit. Re: why is keysborough getting so expensive? 11Apr 03, 2008 11:32 am I didn't know where keysborough was solooked it up on google maps. Seems it is wedged between Dandenong, Springvale and Noble Park.
The only thing it seems to have going for it is that it is not too far from the water. I am surprised at those prices too now that I know where it is. Re: why is keysborough getting so expensive? 12Apr 07, 2008 2:55 pm Hi Andrew,
have a lok at how far the estates spread in the area! keysborough is now a very well established area, and closely linked with Dingley, Parkmore shopping centre underwent a revamp a year ago and now with the freeway coming through down the road the area which used to be a bit 'out of the way' is now a very nice residential area close to everything, but just far enough away from the hussle and bustle of Dandenong. Cheers, Troy 6 11528 That sucks! Hope it all works out. Good to move away from steel anyway for all your reasons, but it's also thermally poor. 16 17773 Hi All, I just wanted to close this topic out with an update. So we ended up agreeing to a number with the insurance company, and after an extensive amount of hand… 8 23348 |
