Re: CAN YOU HAVE YOUR HOUSE ON THE MARKET WITH 2 AGENTS?? 2Sep 11, 2011 2:50 pm Buttercup asked the same thing: viewtopic.php?f=10&t=50078 You have probably entered into an "exclusive" listing with your current agent. There aren't a lot of agents around that will do open listings these days (at least, not here in WA). They were more common in the past before internet advertising came along but with most agents granting conjunction sales with other reps, there's no real need for open listings. I'm not sure how exactly things work on the east coast, but if you sign up with more than one agent, be very very sure that you won't have to pay two lots of commissions. Check your listing agreement for dates and read ALL of the fine print as to when the exclusive period actually ends. If you're not happy with your agent, either wait out the listing period and sign with someone else, or ask if you can be released from the contract (but make sure you get it in writing from them that they have released you with no commissions payable if you resign and sell with another agent). It is illegal for us to knowingly list a property that is currently listed with another agency as it would result in the vendor having to pay 2 lots of commission. Oceanic with Nautilus upgrades.
