Browse Forums Real Estate 1 Aug 30, 2009 6:58 pm My wife and I have bought a property near Brisbane that was originally a 1 acre block and sub-divided, we are at the end of the shared driveway furthest from the road, backing onto another 1 acre block with 1 house on it. We'd really like a bigger backyard and we're wondering what's the best way to enquire about the owners selling us 3-400 square meters, (currently unused/overgrown)? Do we get an agent to approach them? Four wheels moves the body, two wheels moves the soul. I got the shock of my life when my wife mentioned that she'd like to park a car in the garage. Re: Best way to approach an owner about selling? 3Sep 21, 2009 8:44 pm Its been a few weeks, did you speak to your neighbour?? I'd definitely recommend NOT contacting an agent - they will just take a chuck of yours or your neighbours money for what you can do yourselves. First thing would be to speak to them to ascertain if they are interested - then it would need subdivision. You might need to check with Council or Titles to see if subdivision is allowable. Sometimes its not - if the blocks are to remain a certain size. Re: Best way to approach an owner about selling? 4Sep 29, 2009 2:15 pm We moved in over the weekend, haven't spoken to them yet. Does it need subdivision if we're not building on it? The block is an acre, and a lot of the blocks on both streets, (ours included) have been subdivided into 3 lots. Four wheels moves the body, two wheels moves the soul. I got the shock of my life when my wife mentioned that she'd like to park a car in the garage. Re: Best way to approach an owner about selling? 5Sep 29, 2009 11:17 pm Seeing you're just so new in the area it may be prudent to get to know them first as good neighbours before mentioning you want some of their backyard! If you want to own the extra land then you need title to it, lease I suppose would be another way, but best speak to a legal person about this, building on it or not has no consequence to ownership. Re: Best way to approach an owner about selling? 6Sep 29, 2009 11:32 pm I recently bought a subdivided land that was converted from 2 big blocks into 3 smaller blocks, so 2 titles end up becoming 3 totally new titles. Without subdivision, i can't see how you can have that the ownership transferred. good luck though 4 9048 Yeah mine about 9 metres long and 8 wide with slope of 25% at one point but the end point of the outlet is past the side of garage and if he concretes allowing for… 4 4517 I have a really long hallway which is 1100mm W x 11500mm L I would appreciate if anyone can give suggestions to light it up with Linear LED lights that goes from wall to… 0 8810 |
