Browse Forums Real Estate Re: Forced sales... how's it work? 2Jun 07, 2009 9:05 am Is this where you see a house you like and decide to buy it even though the owner doesn't want to sell? If so my advice would be in order of least risk: -
Blackmail Murder Harassment is a low key method e.g. you could make a grave on someone's nature strip so they mow around it for 6 months... Or you could send (fake) nasty letters from the council claiming their grass is too long or their house doesn't have this or that permit. This is long term stuff as you can appreciate and requires tenacity and patience. But the risks are very low. Blackmail can be fun especially if you really do have some dirt on the wife or husband. But in any case, usually everyone has something they hide from their partner so just a hint that you know "something" will be enough. This method doesn't take as long as the harassment method but can still be quite time consuming as you wait for the relationship to fall apart. As I said, can be fun to observe and the risks are not too high. Murder - this is pretty well instant in terms of results and you can even plan your move into you new home at the same time as the murder. For very fast results, do try to make it look like the partner did it!!! Try to leave the body somewhere conspicuous if you don't want the garden dug up. On the other hand if you were planning a complete revamp of your landscaping, having the police dig over the garden could save you a few dollars. This method often leads to a mortgagee auction which means you get the place even cheaper!!! But risks are high, so weigh this up against the risk of getting caught. No. It's where you part own a place with another and one person wants to sell while the other doesn't or the two are disagreeing over something to do with the property. Dan - I'm not sure there is an legal way to make them sell - if they are a part owner. But one method that eventually works - is to stop paying your part of the repayments. Eventually something has to happen - either they pick up the payments and buy you out, or if they can't keep up the payments, the loan falls into default and the bank forces a sale. But negotiation and rationisation with them is the ideal way - but sometimes that seems impossible. Re: Forced sales... how's it work? 7Jun 07, 2009 12:44 pm IMO You need to vchat with a solicitor re some options. Some thoughts - sell your share to another person. Send a legal letter to them requesting to be bought out at market rates etc etc. good luck - you're going to need it. Finding a buyer for my share would be next to impossible and i don't think the other owners would like that. It's kind of a messy situation as the other co-owners are relatives and anything to do with money is difficult. Bringing solicitors into play is putting the cat amongst the pigeons.
