We used to live at Vicky Point aswell, actually it was Pt Halloran and we could walk to the beach Blog: http://bluemistkids.blogspot.com "Never be afraid to try something new. Now-just need to decide on a builder... Congratulations! Are you in the Silkwood Estate? We built in Cotton Ridge in 1997 and sold our house two years ago. I can't believe the price of land there now. My parents live in the Ridge and keep me updated We built with Coral Homes, they were fantastic and have some really nice floor plans. Mt Cotton is a lovely place to live, Vicky Point has everything you need, markets at Cleveland on a Sunday, Hyperdome for shopping (or Capalaba). So peaceful Happy at Home Re: Buying Land in Brisbane 12Jun 11, 2009 12:02 am We will be in the Silkwood estate. Lots of trees and hills- feels very tranquil, but who knows what the area will look like once they've finished the developments. The only thing I'm not looking forward to is the drive to work- we currently live less than a k away from work! I'm glad there's some positive feedback about the area. One of the main reasons we chose this estate was because it feels like there's a good community feeling in the area. Seems like a nice place for kids to grow up in. Re: Buying Land in Brisbane 13Jul 29, 2009 11:07 pm 1sthomebuilder, The area is great. Redlands has a great community feel. It's just the transit for many heading into the city for work that can make it a longer day. We contemplated moving from Vicky Pt to Mt Cotton but wanted more land again so headed further south-west. A great Brisbane winter's Sunday is ideal spent up at the winery, especially when they have some jazz bands etc up there. And....when the cellar doors special days are on you can pickup a great bargain. We just went for a drive up through Silkwood the other weekend. Good selection you have made. There are houses in there going for around $350K, but they have those mythical bayside views - so there must be houses around in the Redland's back a bit that would be cheaper and ready for knocking down. My childhood house (Valantine Rd) has just been demolished and it was a half acre block - not sure what it sold for. Redlands certainly does have a great community feel. Our street still has kids playing footy and cricket on the road and everyone stops and has a chat to the neighbours. Everyone knows what's going on, but in a friendly way. I love it. J. Thomas Street - one great big reno! Yeah I don't know why I came to a forum. Place is full of wierdos/pedos thought internet may help but I suppose I'll try my luck with someone in person. Cheers.
