Lots near electricity transmission lines are generally left out and cheaper.
I think from safety perspective, they must be under safety guidlines.

Personally, I wouldn't buy or build near them, no matter how cheap the land is. Built a Clarendon 'Balmain' 2008 Re: Lots near electricity transmission lines 3Oct 20, 2008 9:12 pm Hi there!
We brought near power lines, and while i was more worried about the aethstic's (sp check), fiance was more worried about the health/safety side of things....hehe can u tell who the stresshead in our r'ship is? heheh He did lots of reseaarch on the topic, and while there isn't any hard evidence (i think) its a matter of personal choice. We decided the block was to good to pass up, and once houses are built up, we figure it will be less noticeable. Hehehe although fiance did stock up our life/health insurance Re: Lots near electricity transmission lines 4Oct 20, 2008 9:15 pm Newbies Hehehe although fiance did stock up our life/health insurance He's such a worrier Happy at Home Re: Lots near electricity transmission lines 6Oct 20, 2008 9:25 pm House-To-Be Newbies Hehehe although fiance did stock up our life/health insurance He's such a worrier Hahaha u have no idea! Hahaha Donuts, hopefully betty doesnt get affected by the powerlines! Hehe sorry for the hijak stormie, hopefully an answer was amongst my post! Re: Lots near electricity transmission lines 7Oct 20, 2008 9:25 pm A colleague was recently considering buying a house under power lines and brought a (cheapo) gauss meter second-hand. Basically the power lines didn't register at a dangerous level but you should never ever stand near the microwave, even when it's not going- electrom agnetic readings were so high they were off the meter. He decided not to worry too much about the power lines.
Disclaimer: results based on a single cheap gauss meter, not a scientific study! Re: Lots near electricity transmission lines 8Oct 20, 2008 9:26 pm The Electro magnetic fields might help Betty grow bigger!
If you drive anywhere through Eltham, Diamond Creek, South Morang and Mill Park you will see loads of Houses built around/under the electricity things. Personally I wouldn't want to be too close. Newbies they aren't that close to your house are they? Happy at Home Re: Lots near electricity transmission lines 10Oct 20, 2008 9:41 pm hehehe betty does need some growth! Hhahaha
We arent too close, there are others in hawkstowe that are closer i think. When we were looking, there was one block that waa right under one. And there is a primary school in lalor that is right next too one! Fiance's best friend was dead set about not buying in hawkstowe (he wanted to buy next door ) cos of the lines, so it's reallyy personal choice i think Re: Lots near electricity transmission lines 11Oct 20, 2008 9:43 pm archaeobabe you should never ever stand near the microwave, even when it's not going I usually do, it's right next to me when going......but it blew up tonight Newbies so it's reallyy personal choice i think Absolutely Happy at Home Re: Lots near electricity transmission lines 12Oct 20, 2008 9:46 pm My Dad worked for the local electrical supply company for 45yrs before retiring two years ago. He wouldn't even park his car underneath power lines to sit in and eat lunch when he was on the road. He just used to say why tempt fate? When we have ever bought property the first thing we always do is look to see where the closest lines are - luckily they have never been close to where we bought.
Just to hear them crackle when you walk past them is enough to give me the heebie-jeebies. Re: Lots near electricity transmission lines 13Oct 21, 2008 10:23 pm Bad feng shui and EMF are not good for the body.
There is areason those blocks are cheaper. And for those reasons you won't find me buying or living near big power lines. Sorry I'm not a Feng believer...if it works for people great but if your a skeptic like me it'll never change...totally OT but i was convinced to go see a kinesiologist once...I laughed all the way through the consultation...I must say the laugh did make me feel better... ...but it would have been cheaper to go see a comedy. As for the price of the block they could be cheaper because it plays on people's fears. If it was unsafe they couldn't sell the block in the first place. Would I buy it...no...transmission lines are dog ugly.
