But my solicitor did not give any documents to keep (to say, this place is mine, mine, mine! ). Don't I get to keep like my title deed or something? Is this normal? Otherwise that doc will be kept by your lender until you pay them out. I honestly can't remember whether we got anything else when we purchased existing properties LOL. I know for our built home we got a stack of papers for insurance, warranties, etc. Some things are worth waiting for. Our settlement agent sent us a copy of the Certificate of Title a week or so after settlement, once the title had been transferred into our name officially. The original Certificate of Title remains with Landgate (the Titles Office is part of this government agency), the bank will hold the duplicate CT if you have a mortgage, if you have no mortgage then you have the duplicate.
