Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Oct 03, 2008 2:02 pm Does anyone know where you buy those old lady push trolley things? You know the ones…they’re upright and either have say, dark blue vinyl type material with a zipping flap around the top lid thing, or they’re more wire-like. Mrs Grace and I really want one so we can walk our shopping home. Right now we have to get cabs as we don’t drive, and it’s just too heavy for us to lug 4-5 of those green bags the 15 minutes walk home, so we’d love one of those trolley things. That way if it’s not raining or absolutely boiling or we’re not in a rush, we can always walk home. But we can’t seem to find them! We’ve looked in Myer, Target, Kmart…the Reject Shop, Crazy Clarks…where else might have them, anybody? Is anyone an old biddy like me and owns one of these things? I’d accost elderly ladies in the street and ask them but I never see anyone with them these days. *living in the 50s* How the hell did I become a senior member!? I know nothing! Re: Upright elderly lady trolleys? 2Oct 03, 2008 2:35 pm If you want the one with 4 wheels you used to be able to buy them on the net. I am pretty sure that it was a company in South Australia that had them, but I just looked for them and I can't find them, will keep trying.
My Aunty ordered hers from Bunnings, and they got it in for her, maybe you could try that. We now have a blog. http://allaboutthebuild.blogspot.com/ Re: Upright elderly lady trolleys? 3Oct 03, 2008 2:41 pm hi grace, they are called shopping jeeps
have you tried your local charity shops? I guess a few would end up there. and I found this www.aussietrolleys.com.au Re: Upright elderly lady trolleys? 4Oct 03, 2008 3:18 pm Try this :

There was one left on the corner the other day I should have gone back and picked it up. If you google "shopping Jeep" there is a company in Melbourne that comes up but it doesn't seem to have a website. Re those 3 pics, the middle one is sort of what I had in mind. The top one not really...the bottom one not exactly either, although it'd be ok. The middle one or a sort of longer/taller version of it would be ideal. I've been to... - Kmart - Target - The Reject Shop - Crazy Clarkes - An assortment of cheap $2 type souvenir shops in Surfers Paradise - Myer - Strandbags (luggage, etc) - Howard's Storage World - Coles (2 stores) - Woolworths (one store) I'm most annoyed by the fact that people have told me they've seen and bought them from Reject Shops but mine doesn't have any. Also, my Howard's doesn't have any. Very odd and frustrating! I just looked at the Howard's site, and the top trolley pic isn't what I had in mind. The bottom one is more so, but still not quite right. Maybe my ideal trolley just doesn't exist anymore, except perhaps on street corners, abandoned, and op shops! How the hell did I become a senior member!? I know nothing! Re: Upright elderly lady trolleys? 14Oct 04, 2008 1:11 pm Can't you get it ordered in by your Howard's Storage shop? If it's on their website, it shouldn't be a problem. Print off the page & take it with you to the store & insist. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/BRAND-NEW-SHOPPI ... dZViewItem Judie Re: Upright elderly lady trolleys? 16Oct 04, 2008 6:19 pm Yeah, the Howard's one could be ordered, but it's not what I want I think.
I need one that's big enough to actually take 3-4 of those green grocery bags, as it's just too far to walk carrying them when they're so heavy, and also we need something quite narrow with wheels such as my dreamed-of trolley/cart thing because half of our walk home consists of going over a narrow bridge and if we have to carry 2 bags and push a trolley/cart, people would constantly be bumping into us. Meh. Actually, the Ebay link is getting closer to the size of what I want, except it's only got 2 wheels!! If we had 3-4 heavy green bags inside it, we'd (or I would anyway) have problems trying to keep it tilted back as we walked. But maybe not...*looking into this one further* Thank you! Big W may, but we can't actually get to one without considerable and somewhat annoying travel. The nearest Big W to us I THINK is in Brisbane (maybe) or NSW (Tweed Heads). The search continues... How the hell did I become a senior member!? I know nothing! |
