Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Oct 01, 2008 10:19 pm Just read the other thread about finding house numbers and it got me thinking (<-- insert joke at my expense here, lol) - has anyone thought about where and how they will display their house number at the front of their property ie letterbox, front wall, portico, etc? And where will you source these from?
And better still, for those of you who have already done this, any photos? I will be waiting on those that have already got these/or are super organised and know what they are going to have,....i haven't even thought about this, but it will be good to see the responses! Re: House Number Displays 3Oct 01, 2008 10:30 pm I am (very vaguely LOL) thinking to have a fence run along the front stopping at the driveway, and have the letterbox built in to the fence where it stops. So the number would be displayed on the letterbox bit of the fence. Re: House Number Displays 4Oct 01, 2008 10:36 pm Re: House Number Displays 5Oct 02, 2008 8:09 am I would love a custom made stainless steele "twenty2" that is backlit. I just don't know where to get one made?? Anyway i would probably put it above the garage to the left maybe and then a 22 on the mailbox. Re: House Number Displays 6Oct 02, 2008 8:42 am Any good signage business should be able to advise you on how to get this done, and if they can't do it they will point you to someone who can - the steel would be laser cut and a light box purpose built to mount it on.
I have done a number of this type of design for museum exhibition systems and there is nothing to it really. Of course as a custom job you will be paying more than for an "off the shelf" product. Another nice solution is to get the numbers cut out of stainless and mounted with lamps behind them so that you get a "corona" effect around the numbers. Re: House Number Displays 13Oct 03, 2008 8:44 am brittany I know this is a stupid question but if it is locked - where do the letters go? maybe the solar panel is the lid - but it's one way access. After 4 years - we're in! Re: House Number Displays 15Oct 03, 2008 11:18 am I was planning on painting the number on the curb, and doing one of these:
http://www.solarhousenumber.com.au/sola ... mbers.html I think the letter box is a good idea too. However, most boxes I've seen here have a slot to put the mail in the box so the posties don't have to open a lid. Not sure if that's a requirement or not. Greg Re: House Number Displays 16Oct 03, 2008 11:51 am hehe i didnt notice that there wasnt a slot for the mail...oppsie dasie...hehehe
