Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jun 23, 2020 5:46 pm Hello everyone, My building journey with Boutique homes has come to end, journey was bumpy but we made it, now after paying for the NBN pack and seeing all the cables conduit/pit underground done. I have been told that my address is not on the NBN list when I tried to connect with Aussiebroadband. My question is I thought Boutique homes would of requested the new development application for us since we were forced to take up the NBN pack. Now I have initiated the new development application with NBN but it will take 4 months for NBN to hook me up and we will be charge the new development application fee of $600 plus the $300 new connection fee. Now according to NBN "When a new property is developed the developer must pay NBN to connect to the new building. This is the developers contribution and comes at a price of $600. The end user contribution comes when the home owner connects to NBN will be $300". I would like to know from other new home owners especially with boutique homes if you guys are in the same boat. My boutique homes contact doesn't have a clue. Thanks in advance. MT Re: NBN New developer fee of $600 2Jun 23, 2020 7:17 pm Your builder is not your developer unless you are building an estate... The person whom developed the land was supposed to do it; e.g. did someone subdivide you block? The disconnect is normally that NBN requires the developer to pay for the establishment of your address in the system (and the eventual connection), but the council does not confirm they do this before they sell the land. So guess what... they dont do it and save themselves some cash. Happened to me too, just have to suck it up. Re: NBN New developer fee of $600 3Jun 23, 2020 7:58 pm Thanks for the reply bud, the land wasn't subdvided, it's just been sitting there all these years. My other question is NBN wants me to upload a service plan but my builder doesn't have a clue what it is. Do u know else I can provide to NBN? Re: NBN New developer fee of $600 4Jun 23, 2020 8:06 pm Yeah they asked the same for me, they just want a plan showing where the conduit the builder is installing from the street runs to the side of the house. My builder wouldn't supply one as they said the sparky would work it out on the day he did it, so the next best thing was telling them what side of the house it would run down. I submitted that 6 months back and have an install date showing another week from now so hopefully it goes all good. The house isn't due to complete for another few months so should still be good to go by the time I'm moving in. Re: NBN New developer fee of $600 6Jun 24, 2020 11:30 pm We had a similar thing. NBN advised they would potentially charge the $600 fee but they didn't do it. Though our circumstances were maybe a bit unique as NBN rolled out in our area after we owned the land and they had a cable wrapped around a pole to install overhead. Instead they came out and installed a new underground pit to connect it through the builder conduit so not sure what that cable is actually going to be used for or if it will just sit there. We do have to pay the $300 when we connect though. I just submitted our electrical plan as it had a note and rough indication of where the connection should be. A person needs to be licensed to offer financial advice. Surely the accountant you use would have been chosen for his/her expertise in this field.
