Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jun 16, 2020 10:43 pm Hi all, We've been living in our new house for just over 1 year now. To say that our builder is the definition of unprofessional, incompetent and works with no accountability is an understatement. We had a huge list of defects after moving in - most of them taking constant badgering via emails and calls for them to finally get fixed. Mind you, the builder would hire handymen to do all this work - you could tell from the finish of whatever was being fixed - it was just not professional. Anyway 1 year on...we still have a few big issues to be resolved. 1. Leaking water into our garage, as our land is sloped, the back unit's front yard is directly resting against out garage. Water would leaking into out garage after heavy rainfall through the brick mortar. After finally beginning the excavation of soil in March (it took him 3 different labourers to finally get it done), It is now June and the huge excavation is still there. He keeps saying he's trying to find a waterproofer next, but he's apparently had 1 guy ditch the job on the day it was supposed to be completed (it took him 2 weeks to find this guy), 3-4 weeks later, he's had one guy who said he'll wait for a cancellation and let him know when he can do it, and another who apparently took a look over the job last weekend....and yeah I'm still waiting to hear when it actually is going to get done. This builder is full of delays and excuses. I remember during the build his best excuse for a plumber not showing up was that the plumber accidentally put the wrong petrol in his car and it broke down. The 1st waterproofer who canceled on the day said his supplier was closed so couldnt do the job. As you can see he's full of BS. Onto the next major issue...water leaking into our walk in wardobe after some heavy rain...the plaster wall got mouldy and the floorboards all had water underneath and are now all warped. He finally got a roofer out to put some sealant on the outside of the house, which does seem to have fixed it. We've had heavy rain, but no more leaking. But when chasing up the builder as to when he's going to replace the floorboards and mouldy wall..he now says he wants to wait until Spring or Summer to make sure it's 100% fixed and dry. The original conversation was to wait 3-4 weeks to make sure it's fixed. The builder is always flaky on dates, never commits, takes forever to reply to emails if at all. What should I do? Just let him fix the problems according to his own snail pace? I'm at my wits end. I have a tool that i have created that does this. Message me with your details and I will send it to you. 5 21615 Just to makea point about this, an approach that some people have found sucessful in negotiating these rises down, Is to provide some workings to the builder, specifying… 4 65009 In fairness nobody gave a crap about the ACCC and the gag clauses continued in the pro forma templates of a few other builders after the ACCC took on Wisdom, and more… 20 57554 |
