We have been given a very firm, straight up NO! from them, and after talking to alot of different people and tile shops I've been told it's usually allowed. I hope theres someone out there that can help me! Thanks 👍🏼 Re: Supply my own tiles? 3Jun 23, 2020 1:27 am Nicfac Hi, I'm currently in the process of building with WA country builders in Perth and I am wondering if anyone that has recently built with them were allowed to supply their own tiles?. If they are stolen would you be prepared to buy the whole lot again? The builder wouldn't want to take the risk on both you the client and themselves also. 2) What if the tiles become discontinued and you haven't ordered enough, who's responsible as whole walls will have to be redone. 3) If the tiles are a bad batch (it does happen) and they are cupped and the tiler submits an invoice for additional cost are you willing to pay? 4) What if some emergency happened and the savings you had for the tiles was used for this emergency, you are up s$#t creek without a paddle For us the risk is to great to consider owner supplying anything, as a client I would be ropable if a builder had something stolen onsite then hit me up to resupply. If you want to supply the tiles to save costs, I very much doubt you would see a substantial savings if any, builders rates on tiles are very competitive Re: Supply my own tiles? 4Jun 23, 2020 1:39 am To make it simple, you tell builder which tiles to buy and he just gets there and buys tiles for you using builder's discounted pricing and then provides you an invoice to cover (+his margin). You always buy 10-15% more tiles than actual sq meter area coverage. It is always better if material and installation labour comes from the same vendor, in that case you can prevent a lot of finger pointing in the future. That's a fantastic result! Happy you got it sorted out. cheers Simeon 6 8630 Hi Mofflepop, I would recommend finding a building designer to prepare plans, they should design to your specified budget.
