Hi Shane,
I know your post was a while ago but wondering if you had any luck resolving it?
We've recently had a colorbond roof installed and have the same issue, banging popping all day and all night. Woken up at 4am the past 5 mornings in a row to a loud bang.

I am aware of thermal expansion etc, but there is no temperature change between midnight and 5am so why the noises..[/quo

Did you find out what the problem was mate?

Build a house 7 years ago,colourbond roof and absolutely no banging popping ever ,but I owner built with best practice and really good sacking,and roof is monument, extremely quite even when raining.

Hi Shane and Steve, I am experiencing the same issue in my current house. The popping sound seems to come from the ceiling and walls as well. Especially after a hot summer day. I have a colourbond roof attached to metal beams and it was tiles before. Any luck with your roofer or builder??

Just out of curiosity, is the sound localised just at one section of the house or throughout?
Can you also hear creaking or popping on your walls/ceilings?
