Re: How to repair this door before painting2

Eventually I will be painting this door however I would like to ensure the wood is in healthy condition prior to being coated. Not sure what happened to the bottom part of this door but what steps would I need to stake prior to painting? I have already sanded it, is this mold?
Hard to tell because you have already sanded it, but looks to me like previously repaired damage. May have been some wood rot that was repaired with some form of (plasticised?) filler. Anyway, since you are going to paint it, you can use whatever weather proof filler you like to get a nice smooth finish prior to coating.

They look like a nice set of doors that with a bit of TLC and a few coats of paint will give your good service for many years to come.
Hi Arca, thank you for the advice. Thankfully the wood is not cracking or mushy.
