Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Oct 01, 2008 8:17 am Gee it bugs me when builders advertise a home as 'architectually designed' as if it is something special! Aren't 95% of homes designed by an architect? After 2 false starts, a year living overseas, two more world trips and 3 years of uncertainty we are now starting the build process again - hopefully for real this time! Re: Mini-Rant 2Oct 01, 2008 8:48 am Possibly more like 90% designed by a "Building Designer". Re: Mini-Rant 3Oct 01, 2008 10:38 am I'm with you, muzzman.
A certain SA volume builder starting with H has recently had media campaign about a new series of their floor plans designed by architect Max so and so, - well, whoopie do I always judge a floor plan on its own merits, not on the credentials of the designer, and sometimes these so-called architecturally designed homes have a glaring lack of practical common sense, for example one of them had the external laundry door on the complete opposite side of the house to the clothesline Even I can tell that's not very clever. Re: Mini-Rant 4Oct 01, 2008 12:34 pm I think "architect designed" is of very dubious marketing value.
To me "architect designed" usually means a dog's breakfast of trendy but impractical elements that will date faster than orange flares. Do the hard jobs first. The easy jobs will take care of themselves. - Dale Carnegie |
