Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Sep 30, 2008 8:24 pm Hi Guys,
Seeing you are all so knowledgeable and I can't be bothered ringing the builders (cos they never answer ) I was wondering if they can add an extra $250 to our final stage bill. Apparently there was some sort of restriction to clean the back of the house so they had to manually clean it. Now, this was not a provisional sum or mentioned on our contract. On a good note they rebated approx $1500 they didn't use and now we are hopefully also getting an extra $2500 cos they didn't add the sleeper retaining wall and it wasn't needed in the end. Any advice welcome Re: adding extra costs at end of build??? Now, this was not a provisional sum or mentioned on our contract. It could be a latent condition (a variation). What exactly did they have to clean and why? Was this work that was performed documented on the drawings? Was it something that was unforseen and unreasonable for the builder to physically allow for when they originally priced the job? Sorry to go OT for a minute miss81, but just wondering if you ended up complaining about the splashback glass type? What did they say? Re: adding extra costs at end of build??? Sorry to go OT for a minute miss81, but just wondering if you ended up complaining about the splashback glass type? What did they say? I complained, they said they only ever show clear glass at the showroom and we would have been show that and blah blah blah.... As you can see, I am soooo over all the little problems that need to be fixed. I think I will grow to love it and then in a few months I will change it!! Re: adding extra costs at end of build??? Can they??? 6Oct 01, 2008 1:39 pm Count yourself lucky that it is such a small amount of money they have charged. Our builder has charged us twice for many items and were now in the regon of $4000-00 over what was agreed at time of signing. They are even charging $550 for laying 2.5m of frieze tiles in the bathroom, What a rip. Re: adding extra costs at end of build??? Do you expect the builder to pay for the extra if there are additional costs for the materials and the labour...? Re: adding extra costs at end of build??? Can they??? 8Dec 01, 2008 1:06 pm The frieze tiles were all planned for, they made a mistake in the quantity, but its proving to be near impossible to get reimbursed.
We may have to take Pry Hms to the courts as they have really taken us to the cleaners on so called extras. Ask the council if there is a chance of getting build over easement exemption. Sometimes easements are unused and 24cm is not all that much. Good luck.
