Browse Forums General Discussion 1 May 17, 2020 1:02 pm Hi All, I recently bought this house that came with what i believe is bagging render. I would like to fix the gray part of the wall in the front of the house but would like to get ideas. Since I am trying to save costs for as it will eventually be an investment property, would I be okay to just paint over with exterior paint or would I be required to render and then paint? Any other suggestions would be great! I have attached a couple of photos to show[img:1tf98639]https://forum.homeone.com.au/u/95438_1589684824.jpg[/img:1tf98639] [img:1tf98639]https://forum.homeone.com.au/u/95438_1589684835.jpg[/img:1tf98639] you. Any attempt to paint over the existing without extensive preparation will result in the rest of the bagging plus the paint flaking off in only a short time. Stewie do you think for a new build, would it be cheaper to have the builder put in bag and paint render and then post hand over to cement render it. is it a difficult job to just plaster cement over the bag and paint render or should i ask the builder not to bag and paint it at all and then get a local to true render it. The builder is asking the same price for either a small or large area. and i just have a small area to render. Re: Ideas to revamp a bagging render wall 4May 20, 2020 4:30 pm Don't bag and paint it because if you are looking at rendering it later with either acrylic render or sand/cement then it won't stick. I'd get the builder to leave it off altogether and render it and paint it later. So Im just waiting for the developer to reply back if i can render it later for approvals. I am looking for someone who might have tackled a similar issue as me.
