Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Apr 30, 2020 9:12 pm Hello Homeone, I’ve just recently purchased a brand new built townhouse on a community title. After moving some stuff in today after the bit of down pour we’ve recently had in Adelaide opened the back door into the laundry and water came right in with me that had been just getting soaking in and inside the rubber door seal. Thats when I looked up and realised theres no roofing over the door and the porch and roof only start left of the door( looking out) going to the garage side entry. It’s just one of those things one doesnt notice, the build is overwise of good quality and the building inspector I had look at it was happy with it. Upon looking at the plans, all other units have the same design with no coverage over their rear doors. What are my options? Is it a requirement to have that section covered that was somehow forgotten and/or overlooked? Are there any cheap temporary solutions while a proper fix is determined? - it seems like the title by-laws require every parties approval before any go ahead. You would reckon all the owners would want roofing over that section of their property - so is it a possibility that putting a joint request to the developer would hold more weight than doing it individually? Ye it is probably preferable to have one, but that wont necessarily stop water ingress. No request you make will have any weight, unless you are paying for it, but regardless, depending on the proposal, you may then require and amendment to the planning approval. Its probably a freak occurrence as it must have really been coming down (or side ways as it may be, to get past that raven/other door seal. Perhaps the seal needs adjusting It looks like Blacktown council allows up to a 6.0m wide driveway so just ask your builder to change the plans.
