Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Apr 15, 2020 10:02 am Hello Please help! I’m wanting to fix a shelf that will be taking some weight into a 110 year old limestone wall The wall is plastered but beneath the plaster is quite crumbly. And solid, no cavity in the old days. Any suggestions? We thought using a board along the wall fixing with liquid nails, wall plugs and screws then drill the shelf brackets onto the board? Thanking you for all suggestions Jane Re: Fixing into 100 year old limestone wall 3Apr 16, 2020 7:59 pm Could you maybe cut a series of vertical grooves in the plaster then transfer the weight to the floor via rods/bars or similar. I suppose brackets below the shelf would do at the top. Fixing the bottom might be awkward mind. Replaster when done to hide the trickery.
