Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Apr 15, 2020 11:02 am Hello Please help! I’m wanting to fix a shelf that will be taking some weight into a 110 year old limestone wall The wall is plastered but beneath the plaster is quite crumbly. And solid, no cavity in the old days. Any suggestions? We thought using a board along the wall fixing with liquid nails, wall plugs and screws then drill the shelf brackets onto the board? Thanking you for all suggestions Jane Re: Fixing into 100 year old limestone wall 3Apr 16, 2020 8:59 pm Could you maybe cut a series of vertical grooves in the plaster then transfer the weight to the floor via rods/bars or similar. I suppose brackets below the shelf would do at the top. Fixing the bottom might be awkward mind. Replaster when done to hide the trickery. Hi mjcmjc, Can you post the pictures again, they are not showing up. 1 2081 Hi MrsJM,
Thanks for the response 2 1105 Building Standards; Getting It Right! That's good advice mate, thanks. I guess it's not really worth the trouble then replacing one brick I will never see, logically speaking. I will point it out as you… 8 2160 |
