Can anyone advise me how much does the cabling per metre length cost for installing new electricity metre? My builder advised me that they cannot install the new metre to the closest wall from the consumer main pitt and will have to choose other side of the house which will increase the requirement for the cabling. They advised me that it will cost be $940 for the extra work. Initially the cost of installation for the new metre was quoted in the building contract document. They advised me that they can cover up to 5- 6 metre length and rest to be covered by me. Can anyone please give me some info about it? The construction location is in NSW Bardia.

Thanks for your response and advise.
The agreed tender document says " provide 3 phase underground connection to the house by the builder" but they haven't mentioned the side of the house.
They advised me that they can install in the fascade to the corner of the nearest side of the main consumer pitt without any cost variation. I think nobody would put the metre box on the fascade as it wouldn't look nice. They have been regularly chasing me for the quick response stating it need to be done asap so i have advised them to install it in the other side of the fascade and to send me the variation cost of the extended cabling only which they reckon would be $940 + GST and rest installation cost will be covered by them.
I told them that this was meant to be planned initially by them and now all of a sudden they are asking for the extra cost. They advised me that they won't charge me if they can install in the fascade or nearest side of the house but the only problem is i will have to keep my 1.8 m colorbond fence gate open all the time for the meter reading.
They told me that they will add the extra cost to the up coming progressive payment but i have asked them to seperately invoice mw with detail of the work. I wanted to see if $940 is only for the extended cables used or they are trying to make me payment for all the installation cost.
Is there anything i can do now as i told them to go ahead because they have been chasing me frequently for the response?
Also do you know how much does it cost for the installation?
