Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jun 21, 2020 9:38 pm We have never built before so hoping someone can shed some light... We went to see our little patch of dirt that we settled on last year, and we discovered that our neighbour on the right who has commenced building and has their framework almost complete, has entered onto our block with a bobcat to make it easier to access their rear yard. As they have a retaining wall with a step down on their other side I can see why they entered our block. The problem is that the bobcat has created a load of track marks and bog holes (thanks to the rain) across our entire block and at the rear where our block is upward sloping, has now created what my children describe as a big mud slide. What was our green grass is now a mud zone. Wondering if this is something I must just accept because we are not building yet and the neighbours can use our block like a free access to all, or should I be trying to find out who the owner is (who is also owner/builder) and voicing my concerns? Re: Entering a vacant block 2Jun 22, 2020 12:55 pm Hello, Not much to worry about in my opinion, I'd let it slide (like the kids have) as you're going to be building on the block yourself. You will be having an excavator / bobcat on your site messing with the levels and soil, trades moving around, rubbish on the site during construction etc. I would only be concerned if next door was dumping rubbish on the block, so keep an eye out for that. Thanks for the reply and the tip to keep an eye out on rubbish dumping. When we saw that both lots on either side had begun site preparation we went and attended to our tall grass to make it easier for them to put fencing and scaffolding..... although looking back we should have just left the grass as is and wouldn’t have this new mud pit. Hopefully with a bit of sunlight the puddles will dry up. I’m sure the kids will be disappointed thought 🤣 Elvis has left the building... The site supervisor quit after 2 month on the project. I guess he was just instructed to bark at people, but didn't like when he was… 26 21248 Yes it had a house on it. But Melbourne water only wanted something the original size of the existing house. We managed to fit a 45sq house on. 10 33993 4 4697 |
