Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Feb 23, 2020 7:11 pm Hi all, We're doing a new build with Rawson and considering whether to include tiling with the builder or to do it after handover. I understand that the builder will put a mark up ($$$) when done during the build but you do get the peace of mind that skirting boards will be laid after hence a cleaner finish. Also, builder will cover floors as part of the warranty? On the flip side, it will be cheaper to get it done post handover but may incur additional cost to lay skirting boards and potential rework. Any tips and traps on experiences would be appreciated. Thanks Re: Flooring - tiling with builder or after handover? 2Feb 23, 2020 8:07 pm FYI, Rawson fix skirting to floor then tile against the skirting. Re: Flooring - tiling with builder or after handover? 3Feb 24, 2020 12:01 pm I see the main advantage of getting it all done is warranty as you say. I have had an issue before with drainage of a tiled area. Tiler blamed the slab underneath and builder blamed the tiler. (Maybe the builder didn't put as much care into the slab as they knew they weren't doing the tiling?? Tiler should not have proceed with the job if they felt that the slab wasn't good enough?) Got messy. If the builder had done it all they would have had sole responsibility for the issue Looking to tile the facade pillars rather than rendering. Builder is quoting 2500$ laying cost for upto 10msq. The 2 pillars come to be 16msq. So laying costs are 5000$… 0 7554 Hi, I'm clearing the tiles from our horrid 50 year old bathroom and preparing to lay new ones. Bugger of a job getting the old… 0 8091 4 14467 |
