Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Sep 28, 2008 1:45 pm Hi Guys,
I own a brick and fibro house that was build in the early 60's (fibro exterior walls on a brick base) and I wish to re-paint it's exterior and I need some advice. 1) How should I prepare the fibro and brick for painting? Would I need to wash it all down with some kind of detergent, or will just hosing it down suffice? 2) The fibro has some minor cracks. Whats the best way to patch these? 3) What should I be looking for in a paint? The colour is currently "Mission Brown" and we wish to paint it something more like a pale cream. Are there any brands you would recommend or avoid? 4) What equipment will be needed ? Will the usual brushes and rollers do the trick? 5) Any more advice for someone who has only ever painted interiors? Any help is appreciated. Re: Painting old brick and fibro house - advice needed 2Sep 28, 2008 3:47 pm Use an acrylic paint as it's more flexible than enamel. If the surface is sound (not flakey) I'd scrub it down with a stiff brush and sugar soap, or even better a presure washer. I roller with a long nap would be the quickest way to apply. Are the cracks along joins?
