Browse Forums General Discussion Re: slab inspection 3Feb 11, 2020 9:19 pm If an inspection is required before pouring it's probably a geotechnical issue Generally, if fill has been placed under the slab during construction you will need a compaction certificate confirming it meets the required compaction level. Or if part of the slab is load-bearing on natural soils you will need a footing inspection from a geotech. confirming the strength of the ground is as per the minimum specified on the structural drawings. A structural inspection to confirm the reinforcement has been tied/placed as specified may be needed before the pour but I don't think its common as the builder usually provides construction guarantees/assurances. Re: slab inspection 4Feb 12, 2020 7:08 am All of the slabs we've poured in the past have been inspected by a structural engineer before pouring to check the reo and cover. They simply wouldn't certify them as compliant if they didn't. They also wanted to see the receipts from the concrete supplier as well to make sure the concrete was the right strength and moisture content. It may be different in other states but this is usually how its done in NSW.
