Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Feb 07, 2020 10:13 pm Hi all, new here, hope I can clear this issue I come upon with manufacturing my own design staircase for a spa using galv steel 25x35x1.5 bars welded together and dressed with merbau. It came out well, sturdy and better than imports I’ve seen, made with love and care. My local council however insists I need a certificate from an engineer of sorts who can validate it will last, etc. where do I go? Can’t I have my own AS standard compliant product I manufactured serving me in my own backyard these days? If no exemptions for being owner builder, small job, whatever else you know, could anyone at least point me to the correct trade who will charge reasonable for such a certificate?
