Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Sep 26, 2008 11:58 pm I am building an open freestanding pergola with 4.5 m x 2.1 m x 2.7m. 'Am using only 4x post with 140 x 140 dressed. On the longer sides, double beam (roughly 190 x 45 mm) will be used as believed more load stability. On top of the double beams, 10 rafters (roughly 140 x45 mm ) will be placed at equally spaced. Please note that post will be above the ground and already completed and designed for mentioned post.
As the design is open type, could anyone help me which timber do I have to use that will last at least 15 years. Some of my friends told me to use cypress pine, blackbrush, treated pine, merbau and oregon.....now I'm confused. Bathroom renovation will likely include a back-to-corner bath and we’re considering a freestanding tap with hand-held shower such as the picture included.
