Best beaches in any capital city hands down. Especially Mullaloo with it's white powdery sand (and seaweed right now ) I recon some of the beaches around Esperence are up there with Whitehaven but not as big There is only one whitehaven but so so many countless white sandy beaches around WA I love how nearly every house in Perth is double brick on a concrete slab. No paperthin walls to let noise through Also the job scene is very bright! Just not enough people to fill any position, anywhere. Great wages and fantastic lifestyle here for sure I'll blow sunshine up WA's bottom anyday Re: Welcome to WA ! 3Sep 26, 2008 6:25 pm Well said Fu Manchu......
We have just ditched some building plans and looking at more so I am pretty quiet on the building front at the moment and just enjoying everyone elses build. So nothing to discuss as yet. Re: Welcome to WA ! 4Sep 26, 2008 9:39 pm HI from chilly Southwest WA.
Playing a waiting game for earthworks to start atm. I can't comment on other states of Australia having only lived here in WA. I haven't gotten around to visiting the other states but do intend to do so "one day". So many other countries to visit first. The cupboard under the benchtop is included in my contract but not theside pantry & overheads. Do you think they are asking too much ? I know it sounds a lot but considering what you pay for a small kitchen, it's not over the top. Re: Welcome to WA ! 10Sep 27, 2008 2:56 pm This is an interesting idea. A thread just for WA people!
I love WA! Although I am now in Sydney, I still miss WA. We plan to retire there one day..... So peaceful............ Re: Welcome to WA ! 12Sep 27, 2008 9:07 pm Do you want to know a useless fact about Australia? To bad I'll tell you anyway the divide between east and west goes back right to the days of settlement.
Was it in the 30's that WA had a referendum to susceed from the rest of Australia and it was voted by west Aussies to do so but stopped by the Federation. When the French were going to settle the south coast mother England planned on sending Captain James Stirling to set up the swan river settlement. He refused to be under the command of NSW Governor Darling (who at the time commanded all of Australia because it was all NSW). Stirling pretty much said he would do it but he got the west half and darling the east. 7 months after setting up the swan river settlement (which became Perth) Stirling sent "his troops" to Albany (settled by Darling) and sent them back to Sydney. And there is where the East v's West thing started. However most people in the East are unaware of the whole East v's West thing and we are very aware of it in WA Re: Welcome to WA ! 13Sep 28, 2008 12:55 am great idea. People to talk WA with. We're at the really early stages of building at the moment - still haven't decided on a plan yet or a builder lol when I'm in Perth next week we'll start checking out a few display homes. (I do FIFO work at the moment in Newman on a 23/5 roster, so I'm not in Perth much). Tradie may sit at home but will need to get house plastered as well or will you sit it out? 6 10198 |
