Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Dec 04, 2019 9:58 pm Dear all, Just thought of posting a opinion poll to check homeone community's preference on residential cooling and heating. It may be beneficial for everyone to decide the path. Considerations: 1) Availability of Solar (5kwh) 2) Gas to price to go up steadily 3) Global warming and extreme climates 4) Effectiveness 5) Cost to run 6) Maintenance 7) Health and safety Thanks, Re: Opinion poll : Residential Heating and Cooling Options 4Dec 05, 2019 12:34 pm OK then. You might want to consider unifying the poll based on either the energy source or delivery system. You might also get better results if you had seperate heating and cooling polls. For example, consider the following heating: Heating energy source: * Electricity * Gas/fossil fuel burning * Wood fired * Exchange Heating delivery system: * Thermal mass (hydronic, in slab electric, etc) * Radiant * Air (single point or ducted) So you could offer poll choices like: * Ducted air conditioning (electrically powered exchange system heating air delivered through ducting) * Geothermal hydronic, electrically boosted (electrically powered exchange system heating water delivered through thermal mass) * Open fire place (wood fire heating air delivery at single point) * Gas heater (gas fire heating air delivered at single point) Unfortunately it’s not very simple. If that is too much and you just want to add some extras, I offer the following: Geothermal hydronic heating Heat pump hydronic heating Solar-passive heating In-slab electric Ducted wood fired heating Electric radiator heaters Open fire place Roof space cooling Fans There are many others, but that will do for now. Re: Opinion poll : Residential Heating and Cooling Options 6Dec 06, 2019 7:29 am Thanks for the message Berek. From my perspective, for the daily use I would need cooling for large living area+ activity + open theatre during day timeand then master bedroom at night. I am not aware that ducted ones are not having great efficiency, but what are the matcing options astistically to it? Apologies, I am unable to edit my poll add your options. I would really appreciate if if you can complete the poll about windows, if you have a story I would love to hear it.
