A few questions:
1. can you can live in a caravan on residential empty land in Tasmania.
(apparently you apply for a caravan permit, but does this allow you to live for an unlimited period in a caravan?)
2. do you need to build an ablution block in order to live in a caravan?
3. Do you need to be building a house to allow you to live in a caravan?
4. What problems could you face regarding living in a caravan in a residential area? Large block of land.
Thanks in advance

Thank you for the reply Berek.
I have looked at the Break o Day council website in Tasmania and it says caravan without permit for up to sixty days, thereafter one needs to have a permit, which may or.may not be granted.
This permit costs over 200dollars and allows inhabiting of caravan.
Where I am confused is if one has bought land, put in an ablution block and cannot yet afford to build house, what happens if caravan permit is refused?
This is residential land and has sufficient shrubbery to conceal caravan from.public view so that neighbours noses are not put out of joint by the gypsy look.
Building and modular homes in Tasmania are much dearer Than the mainland and thus will need to save up.in order to create abode.
Housing shortage in Tasmania due to this.
In event we cant live on purchased land there is a nearby

Yep different councils will have different rules. The more rural the more relaxed.
Simplest thing would be to ring them up and ask.
Hi yes hv done that and they say to look at the caravan by laws which don't specify details
