Browse Forums General Discussion Re: Run power to shed 2Nov 19, 2019 1:30 pm GuyB Hi, I have a quick question, I want to get a sparky to wire my shed (9m * 3m) but to save money I want to run a cable from close to fuse box in the house to a corner in the shed which will contain another fuse box. The shed is approx. 13 metres from the house and will have wiring for 4 lights, 6 power points operating only basic hand tools and an air compressor. In order to save money, I want to dig a trench and run an electrical cable thru orange conduit, but I want to know what size cable would power my shed safely. Like I mentioned earlier a qualified sparky will complete the wiring at both ends Why not get the sparky out to quote, and ask him or her if they would be happy for you to do that preliminary work, and what size conduit and cable they would be happy with. The problem with doing it without their upfront advice, is that they may not be happy to touch it after you have gone to all that effort. I know my sparky put my cables 60cm under the ground, and he would have expected to see it all if I had dug those trenches and laid the cable. 7 5622 I had a similar issue with my fridge not too long ago.
