Main living room and kitchen is at the back and will be south facing. not sure we will be getting a lot of light? Does this color look darker when there is more natural light? or does it look darker in dark spaces. It looks darker in lower light. Essentially, white is a reflective colour, so reflects the light around it, unlike light absorbing colours that might do the opposite. That said, it’s white, so it’s going to be lighter than a tint, such as green, blue, pink etc. It is creamy though, so warmer than cool whites, but IMHO feels more homely rather than clinical. Of course, if you live somewhere that is hot all the time, you might like something that is cooler, and even with a blueish tint. Hira •we're considering going with 1/2 strength antique white USA for walls and vivid white for everything else. We will be going for warm yellow lights throughout the house and don't want the walls looking too yellow. So half strength sounded ok. What do you think? Personally, I don’t get the partial increments, such as half and quarter strength. If I wanted a different colour, I'd choose a different colour. Moreover, by halving the strength of this white, the walls are brought closer to vivid (base) white, so reducing the contrast against the trims, doors and ceilings, etc. Personally, that’s not a look I would like. With respect to your lights, and light in general, the look of any house changes throughout the day, depending on the season, what time it is and what the weather is. As I said before, white reflects, so if you have warm yellow lights (did you mean warm white - 3000K?), the walls will look yellowish at times - but they might too at sunrise and sunset anyway. The alternative is cool white walls, and cool white lights, which again is not a look I would like because it would feel clinical. We have smart lights throughout our house, so sometimes our walls can look red, orange, blue, green or any other colour we choose. In fact I set the colour of the lights in our TV room based on a sunset picture I took, and I love how it closes the room in when I watch a movie or television show. I suggest you shouldn’t worry about trying to keep the rooms looking uniform all the time, but rather embrace the interest of the changing light conditions. Thankyou so much 😀 I've decided on White on white for doors and trims, White on white 50% on ceiling and Mt buller for walls. Fingers crossed it will look OK 😀 2 7171 Thank you. That is really helpful. Once we get the place done and passed for OC we can upgrade in the future once we get back on our feet and not paying mortgage and rent. 4 5745 DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair Hi there, I just recently received my new house from my builder.
