Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Nov 16, 2019 7:02 am okay now there’s a debate happening and I’m stuck in the middle haha ... I’ll be having 2 raised ceilings and a bulk head in the entry to my lounge my builder said he didn’t add those things onto his quote because its The plasterers job to shape in and build in the bulk head and 2 raised ceilings , so I agreed and said no worry’s now the parents are saying the plaster does not do the bulk heads and raised ceilings and that the builder has to shape the opening and the raised ceilings shape to be read to fit them in by the plasterer, so who is right The builder or the parents? I’ll be ringing The plaster joint to ask them but before I sound stupid I thought I would get some advice thanks Re: Help with this debate please about raised ceiling and bu 3Nov 16, 2019 8:31 am mizlong now the parents are saying the plaster does not do the bulk heads and raised ceilings and that the builder has to shape the opening and the raised ceilings shape to be read to fit them in by the plasterer, so who is right The builder or the parents? Is it shown on your plans? Truss roof of pitched stick roof? Dropped bulkheads can be done by the ceiling fixer Cheers Chris Designer,Engineer (Civil,Const & Envir),Builder,Concrete & Masonry Contract.Struct Repairs Re: Help with this debate please about raised ceiling and bu 4Nov 16, 2019 8:38 am Yes shown on plan and it’s been discussed face to face with the builder and the plaster people have it on the quote but the builder reckons he doesn’t do any of that Truss roof Thanks Re: Help with this debate please about raised ceiling and bu 11Nov 16, 2019 9:12 am mizlong Yes shown on plan and it’s been discussed face to face with the builder and the plaster people have it on the quote but the builder reckons he doesn’t do any of that Truss roof Thanks Your terminology isn't all that clear Try putting up a snap shot of the plans deleted the builders name/title box Recesses that required cuts to structural trusses needs to be designed and certified by an engineer, therefore the manufacturer/trades will require proper drawings and calculations, these should be certified by the Building Surveyor No exemptions, ie changes/revisions all must be checked and certified OT, Builders are not allowed to alter engineered structural elements on site without an engineers approval and you need documentation going forward Cheers Chris Designer,Engineer (Civil,Const & Envir),Builder,Concrete & Masonry Contract.Struct Repairs Building Standards; Getting It Right! We bought a house in 2015 advertised as a 7/2/2, 4br up, 3br down (7br), and to date, it’s a great house. However, we’ve just had it valued and it’s come in as a… 0 11987 Ain't that the truth!
