Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Oct 23, 2019 8:29 pm I bought a second hand outdoor wooden table and just interested in how people would approach restoring it. I am guessing it is kwilla but am not sure. It previously has had some kind of oil/varnish finish which has worn off about 50% of the surface area. If I wanted to use a different oil (e.g. Intergrain) I expect I'll have to sand it all back to bare wood. Is there any product that can be applied over the existing finish after a brief sand? Other option would obviously be to paint it a colour, which would probably require a bit less prep. Re: Restoring outdoor wooden table - options 2Oct 26, 2019 6:34 am It may be Kwila, it may be teak or it may be some other sort of hardwood. The link below may be for teak but I am sure it would work for most hardwoods. https://www.houzz.com.au/magazine/the-g ... erId=12201 I found this link a week ago and sent it off to my sister in law who is about to restore the family Parker lounge suite. You need more than a light sand. You need to strip it right back to bare timber so whatever you re- surface it with can penetrate right into the timber and not sit half on the surface. Stewie Thanks Chippy,I do have one that I levered out. I'll try to find a brand name on the windows then do some searching.
