Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Installed in Feb 17 as part of a new house and since the start of the year the relief valve has been leaking/dripping drops of water. I thought it was to do with the heat during summer as read that could be the case, but it is still leaking and dripping over winter. Video of the leak is here https://youtu.be/iCqSVCjbeps Does anyone know what the problem is? I've got the Rheem guys coming in the next few weeks but wondering whether it is something simple I can fix? Re: Leaking relief valve from hot water system 2Oct 03, 2019 10:09 am Have you tried opening it a few times. If a bit of scale gets stuck in the seat they series seem to leak a bit. If you open the valve a few times to flush it out I've found it helps. To open the valve do you mean pulling that lever to drain water out...or actually dismantling it to open it apart? (Sorry i am completely useless with these things...am watching YouTube videos now to learn more) Re: Leaking relief valve from hot water system 4Oct 03, 2019 12:30 pm Just pull the lever. It should discharge hot water and flush the valve.
