Anyone that has used Selkirk bricks is there a display in Melbourne. It seems their main centre is in ballarat and they just use dealers here in melbourne. I went to melbourne brick in bayswater but didn't have any selkirk bricks. So if anyone knows of a good selkirk display in melbourne, let me know. Cheers, Andy Re: Where to go to see Selkirk bricks on display in melbourne? 3Sep 23, 2008 8:46 pm Wakeboardandy try Red Rattler Bricks & Pavers on Ballarart Rd (Western Hwy) Sunshine. We were there a few months ago and they had quite a few different colours on display (including our brick Selkirk Blue Rain)
I haven't been to either of these places but I know they are stockists: Hume Bricks & Pavers Corner Cooper Street & Rex Road, Campbellfield Hume Bricks & Pavers Corner Grimshaw Street & Greensborough Highway Greensborough. Good luck Re: Where to go to see Selkirk bricks on display in melbourne? 4Sep 23, 2008 9:32 pm Thanks for that.. Hume bricks in greensborough looks like it has a big display from google earth.
I will also call up selkirk and get some addresses of houses with the bricks I like... blue rain looks very nice.. but is a cat 6 brick.. we are going to try and stick to a cat 1 brick... so far I like olde ballaarat red and rebellion red... but I would prefer something not quite as red... like some of the austral range.. but I only have choice of selkirk and pgh.. and pgh only have one red and it is super bright!! (rosso). Re: Where to go to see Selkirk bricks on display in melbourne? 6Sep 23, 2008 9:45 pm cat 1 is included with my house.. you pay extra for cat 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6.. not sure if all builders are the same but it is for me. I have a list of which bricks fit into which category for the two manufacturers my builder use. Re: Where to go to see Selkirk bricks on display in melbourne? 7Sep 23, 2008 10:38 pm Hi wakeboardandy, we are building with H3nley and Blue Rain is a cat 3 with them. App $1700 extra for a 38sq double storey plus hand cleaning costs of approx $1500.
Musket Haze and Macedon are nice, they are a blue/purple/reddish sort of colour, not sure of the catagory though. Re: Where to go to see Selkirk bricks on display in melbourne? 8Sep 23, 2008 11:01 pm Musket haze is cat 1 for me so might check it out. Although in the brochure it looks very brown. Maybe best to see it in person. Re: Where to go to see Selkirk bricks on display in melbourne? 9Sep 24, 2008 8:35 am Hi Snhouse,
As you know we have also used the blue Rain brick for our H3nley house (same as yours!). They also charged us approx $1600 for the hand cleaning - however the hand cleaning never occurred. Because???? According to our site supervisor bricks are never hand cleaned - it infact does more damage to the bricks if they are hand cleaned ( that was his excuse/reasoning). We were promptly credited the entire $1600 back. Not sure how accurate the information we have been given is, but I would question H3nley about the hand cleaning process and payment before you get to that stage. DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair to do it properly you need to dig out the garden and waterproof the outside of the wall.
