Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Aug 28, 2019 12:09 pm Hi, and thanks to those who reply in advance. So the builder I chose has completed the build I signed off and away we go and I have moved in, upon delivery and attempted install of washing machine we find the electrical points for this are located in a pposition to which i have to run an extension lead to, instead of being right behind the machine cavity itself, which would have been made quite noticeable by the site manager as that's where the tub was. I have made 3 attempts to contact regarding this matter. So firstly because I signed off on the plans and am not an electrical engineer therefore my problem, secondly would most people consider this to be a significant safety hazard requiring fixing up ASAP. I have started with the site supervisor that afternoon firstly to do with plug holes in tub and how to pop them out, turns out I had to go buy my own hole saw and cut these out, any further calls were ignored as were just about every other call during the site build. So I emailed the CRC no reply even to acknowledge the email was received, I then texted the site supervisor with a photo ( same as attached ) showing what needs to be done to run my machine, NO reply, lastly 3 business days ago I have emailed the operations manager NO reply. I don't think I should have even had to go that high and yet still nothing in reply Can I have some peoples thoughts on the matter is this something they would just deal with, or have real concerns about, especially with an 8 month little girl crawling around the place. And then I'd like to know what some people might do in regards to taking action on this, if the OPs manager isn't replying site superviser doesn't care. Then where should I go to have this remedied If indeed it's agreed a significant safety issue Thanks again. Alternatively you can go the cheap but not ideal solution of buying a longer extension cord (so it's on the floor and not hanging) and just use that permanently.
For the bathtub plug, that sounds odd to me, I have many friends and family that have built houses in Australia and some of them used some really cheap builders and no one has had to do that. Re: Extension cord across laundry 3Aug 28, 2019 3:11 pm Zero safety hazard. If you signed off on electrical plan then yes your fault so you’d have to pay to run a new power point. How did you not notice at various stages of build that there was no PP there? Bath I agree with above comment, never heard of that and if it happened to me I wouldn’t have accepted it at final inspection. Re: Extension cord across laundry 4Aug 28, 2019 4:41 pm Lets start with gillybean up to 30 non returned calls to site supervisor well I didnt count but at least 15. so I got 2 site visits any other visits would have been against contractual agreement and then the QIS then sign off etc. So that's how not noticing power plugs came about and inexperience, even the sparkies could have bought it up with the extra electricals I got done, but he's coming back again cause his cowboys work who didn't terminate my cat6 connectors to specs and if that's one of your jobs then I expect it to be proper. I work in comms, however lack the tools to undertake this and if ya running the cables why not terminate them also. I talking a cpl with jackets not even in the rj45, when there should be as little jacket exposed. (I attached photo for ya to see if you agree on that one ! Dont take it the wrong way not being narky C.bomb and not meant to be argumentative either, but thanks for your time. everyoOne else, K I kinda see from your side of the argument guys, and mine is because its happened to me. I am certainly not starting arguments with people taking the time to respond so thanks. But if I don't notice an issue on the design plans ( first time builder) trouble even working out the key of whats what, and the laundry tub was designed and positioned for machine in that location, the supervisor failed to notice this also, should they not realise "yeah we Fd up the design, we should fix this up for him customers spending 360K with us lets sort that issue out for them hey . Clearly no advocacy here, I'm clearly not a sparky but couldn't they just take the dual light / fan switch point and add a single socket somehow there ? That works for me and removes the extension issue, which I don't see how if it but does it not for that circuit? Ohh and the tub thing that was the hoses for the water feeds to the machine, not a bath tub issue, laundry tub. maybe just unlucky twice and got a bung tub too, certainly weren't "poppin" out with a reasonable hammer bash. Thanks for the responses. But the thing that gets me more than if I've buggered it up is the non reply to even say "Hey well you signed off on it so bad luck champ" but in a nicer way of words then I can accept it AND any decent site supervisor in my view would have said hey, thats's not right, But that's OK they were the ones who were pushing the product review onto me and sent the link so we'll see if I can get it resolved that way. I wont muddle what the truth is and I'll take care using the wording. Overall it was a good finish, but I just find that now gives me a bad impression on them, plus the 15 months from signing to move in date. Cheers Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Thanks for clarifying. Sorry I misunderstood your point 7 6974 Agreed. I just found out today the certifier has not given the final sign off. 2 4090 Hey all, Hoping for some inspiration for my bathroom laundry combo. The tiles are in good condition, as is the bathtub.
