Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Dec 26, 2006 5:51 am I want to build a chin up bar maybe across a hallway or doorway. How would I go about building it? I was thinking just cutting a metal bar to size and connecting it to the dooframe (if in doorway) or to studs in the hallway wall. If that, I need to know what those connectors are called. I've seen them before, just little metal connectors to hold a metal bar perpendicular to a wall. Would this hold up if i were to connect it to the studs in the hallway? How about the doorframe? Re: Chin-Up Bar 3Dec 27, 2006 8:04 am a doorframe would probably be too close to a wall and you'd hit you nose on it. Through studs in a hall would be fine - I'd use at least a 63mm screw into the studs - you studs will only be 35mm wide so you need an anchor that will allow you to fix two screws at least into it Re: Chin-Up Bar 4Dec 29, 2006 10:58 am addy, i got a chin up bar for a birthday present. it includes 2 circular brackets and an adjustable bar. i fitted it across a narrow hallway and i can't help but jump up and do a few chin ups everytime i pass it. but maybe buying one would be a better option than making ur own bars. |
