Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jun 30, 2019 5:21 pm Hi all, Just wondering if anyone would like to share their experience building with B1 Homes (Perth). Have heard almost all great reviews and we are very likely to choose them as our builder. My partner and I are FHB’s so are a bit daunted by the whole process and would like some idea about upgrade costs so that we can make an informed decision as to how much to spend. The upgrades we are wanting to go with: - stone benchtops in kitchen, bathrooms and laundry - extra tiling to bathrooms, kitchen and laundry as well as butlers pantry - overhead cupboards to kitchen and possibly laundry and subsequent bulkhead - extra light fittings (we want to add something like Phillips Hue after handover and don’t know what fittings we should get) - extra double GPOs (indoor and outdoor) - exhaust fan in laundry - gas connection to alfresco - water connection to fridge alcove We will be getting wood-look tiling throughout as we hate carpet. We were going to go with laminate flooring as we thought it would be cheaper than tiling but we’re surprised to hear that the tiles would be cheaper. We are also going to be doing painting after handover. If I think of any other upgrades I will add them below. If anyone has any useful information it would be so handy! Thanks everyone 😊 Re: Building with B1 Homes 2Jul 05, 2019 6:19 pm andiwarwick Hi all, Just wondering if anyone would like to share their experience building with B1 Homes (Perth). Thanks everyone 😊 Hello and welcome! If anything try to get as much as you can included now before you sign. Right now is when you have the bargaining power. Once you sign you won't have any! If you can, go to other companies see what they include in their standards and go back to B1 and get them to include it too. We spent about 5k on overhead cabinets with bulkhead in our kitchen only (We also have a scullery but didn't get overheads). Double GPOs cost us about $58 and a bit more for external GPOs. We also spent quite a bit on drawers. Cabinetry probably cost us the most. If you want stone benchtops I would try to get them included now as they could end up being expensive. Some builders do them as standard. Good luck! That's a good idea, although B1's base inclusions for the design we are going for are really good. B1 includes stone benchtops as a standard inclusions only 20mm, we would like 40mm but if it ends up costing too much we would still be happy with 20mm. I feel as though cabinetry is also going to cost us the most too... we also want cabintery in the scullery, laundry and WIR. It's so hard to know what to spend money on and what not to!! Re: Building with B1 Homes 4Jul 09, 2019 8:47 pm If B1 prices their upgrades anything like sister company Redink, you’ll be in for a shock! We were really keen to go with Redink, however before we even got to discuss things like overhead cupboards etc, they were $30k more expensive than our full price with upgrades with New Choice. We walked through Redink’s selection room prior to making a decision and left knowing that we would be changing just about everything. Re: Building with B1 Homes 5Jul 10, 2019 9:43 am I would advise anyone building a new home to have the wall painting done by the builder- that way it is covered by warranty if there are any problems. Builders don't pay much for it either, so you can negotiate it into your contract for a good price when you're signing up. Ask for references and speak to them. If they are defensive or try to avoid the request, walk. 1 74717 I would never build with Fowler homes. I built with them in 2021 and till date maintenance issues are pending.
