Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jun 21, 2019 2:03 pm Hello, I recently bough a property and the inspection report stated there are some debree to be removed from the sub-flloor. Managed to get a person to remove it, but he has asked for 10*20kg bags of sand to fill the area after cleaning. Question: Is it necessary to put sand in the subfloor,, how does it help to absorb moisture? Re: Space under the house, crawl floor or subfloor 2Jun 22, 2019 7:22 am Hi Malini J Welcome to the forum I assuming you mean building materials ie broken bricks, concrete from the surface? Why would you remove that and 200Kg debris is hardly worth removing not the mention the cost, safety, etc Replacing the sand is not necessary and sand doesn't absorb moisture Who did the inspection report and i would certainly question it's validity BTW photos help hth Designer,Engineer (Civil,Const & Envir),Builder,Concrete & Masonry Contract.Struct Repairs Re: Space under the house, crawl floor or subfloor 3Jun 26, 2019 2:03 pm Thanks structuralBIMGuy, sorry for the late reply to you. I wouldn't bother removing it. hth Designer,Engineer (Civil,Const & Envir),Builder,Concrete & Masonry Contract.Struct Repairs Would also like an opinion from anyone that has used xcem over hebel for floors. Thanks 1 14837 Jimbo73 I would use heaps of adhesive on each sheet and screw rather than nail. use as many as you like cheers Simeon 1 4218 XCEM Alpha flooring seems to relatively new and I could not found any reviews. Have you or someone you know have used it and would recommend over other subfloor options?… 2 7806 |
