I’m building a new single storey house with a reputed builder and opted to do the flooring outside.
We selected a 600*600 porcelain tiles for common areas and carpet for the bedroom. The flooring company suggested to do screeding for tiles which would increase the difference of the carpeted area by 10mm , for which he suggested to do screeding to the carpeted areas as well
After finalising the final quote , he suddenly ch aged to plywood in the carpeted areas instead of screeding
1. Is screeding necessary for the tiled areas
2. Does plywood cause any sound or issues in future due to usage of heavy furnitures in the bedrooms
3. Is it true that carpets cannot be installed on the screeded floor , was it a trick to save some money
4. Is there any way we can save some dollars as this involves increasing the door and skirting heights
