Browse Forums General Discussion Re: Door handle height 2Jun 17, 2019 6:42 pm The lock is standard height and the handle has to be either above or below. The handle will always look too low or too high. It looks to me that the lock is around 1050 - 1100mm that should of been around 800 - 850mm, I'm nearly positive that there isnt an Australian Standard on door lock heights, the door manufacturers put in lock blocks but that's only for internal doors, when they are solid as your door is, they basically say the lock can go anywhere. Gainsborough dont say heights on there installation instructions either I dont think, probably to cover there own bottoms. I would be pushing it further, even though it complies it looks horrendous. Maybe ring gainsborough hardware they have a 1300 number and say your installing a door yourself and wanted to know what height the pull handles and lock should be at as it isnt on the instructions, dont mention a builder at all, see what they say then you may have some ammunition to go back at the builder with Re: Door handle height 5Jun 17, 2019 9:49 pm Maybe have two handles. Re: Door handle height 6Jun 18, 2019 8:27 am SaveH2O Maybe have two handles. Just a thought. I was thinking the same thing. Re: Door handle height 8Jun 18, 2019 1:26 pm I think is definitely too high. Not sure if there's a standard tolerance for it, but that is not practical for the whole family. Looks like they stuff up and don't want to fit it. No ddisplay home I know has a handle that high. Re: Door handle height 9Jun 18, 2019 2:48 pm Looks to me like the whole thing is upside down. Maybe they stuffed up and installed it on the wrong side, so had to flip it. Looks really strange Black on light wood does look good. Not sure if it will be as long lasting as a steel finish? 6 6353 Get some long brass machine screws and bolt right through the gate and put brass acorn nuts and washers on the other side.
