Browse Forums General Discussion Re: Sliding / Stacker door installation - Standard? 6Jun 20, 2019 11:23 am pokolbinguy Hi All, I am wondering if someone can point me in the right direction of installation standards for sliding/stacker doors. Reason I ask is I was recently looking over slab plans for our house and noticed that one of the stacker doors is not marked as recessed into the slab. This would mean it will be installed straight onto the slab, leaving a 90,90mm step/protusion which I can only assume is not standard (building code approved), rather than having the tread / bottom rail recessed into the slab 70mm, leaving only a 20mm step/protrusion. However he builder has said that it will cost me another $310 to have slab have the recess in it and pricing we have receieved is based on not rebating it into the slab, this seems excessive and also given above not appropriate? If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated. Cheers ,Pok What they can do without cutting the slab is to install the door over the step down and set it so the bottom is flush with height of your finished floor level ( say you are having floating timber you would set it 17mm above the slab). They will then screw the door frame in on the sides and initially there will be a gap at the bottom between the alfresco slab and the bottom of the door frame ( ie it will look like it is hanging in mid air) This gap is then filled with structural grout and tiled over, so for all intents and purposes it is recessed. if that doesnt make any sense let me know and I will post some photos of mine Simeon McGovern Affordable Custom Homes, We design and build to your budget Ashington Homes www.ashingtonhomes.com.au Sure looks like the type of track that I fitted to my house.
